I want to start of my discourse with a famous quote
“Leadership is action, not position.”
Most people believe that being elected into office is the only way to lead people. Well frankly, I beg to differ. Having a position is merely a TITLE. Having a rank is NOT the ONLY way to lead. Why? Because everyone is born to lead, to head and to direct others, no matter who or where they are, There is a potential leader in all of us, God made us this way, It is just a matter of nurturing this potential that God has bestowed upon us
Action not position, As leaders, man is expected to take action, more importantly, to produce a result or an effect, Being leaders, task delegation is significant, but more importantly, knowing how to do these tasks ourselves, Leaders do not have clean hands, They have the dirtiest hands in the bunch for they toil the soil, They dig in the dirt, Leaders initiate the process, Leaders are not in position because they know how to talk, As the cliché goes, they walk the talk,
We are fortunate enough, all of us, to be called BALARIANS, Not only because we have a popular school, But because our school stands for something , Here in our school, I believe that there are many programs that could help enhance, and strengthen each and every one’s leadership skills, One simple action could serve as a solution to our daily problems, For example, a student who found a lost item and returns it to its rightful owner becomes an inspiration to fellow students, and by his actions he puts the word corruption out of the BALARIAN dictionary, Simple things like that could really mean a lot to the eyes of his critiques,
Last year, when I was thinking of how to spend my senior year here in our school, I thought of giving back to the community, It would serve as a great farewell gift to my beloved Alma Mater, To be honest, I really didn’t think of running as your LINK President and HEAD PROMOTION in Q.C With humility, I can say that I have quite a number of achievements during my stay in BHS, But academic achievement was not enough, I needed to prove that this school has taught me more than academic excellence, I wanted to give more, And I knew that serving my own fellow students could be the greatest remuneration, It is a great honor for me to be of service, and to be a steward in leading the path to become what we are expected to be, fully integrated Christian people,
The school aims to train students, to ready them for what they’ll be experiencing when released from the walls of the school, And we, the LINKERS and LEADER, are part of your formation, We need to remember that we are not just students, We are BALARIANS, We act on what we say, we do what we need to do, and we live the true BALARIAN identity, to be of service
Let us remember that much is expected from us, Let us not waste time doing nothing, Let us all stop talking and start taking duties, Let us remember what our teachers said, “Let us start a new, for until now we have done so little or nothing at all”
I would like to end by posting a challenge to all
Fellow BALARIANS , be of service, Continue the Legacy, Let us all be leaders in whatever ways we could do, Let us make God, our family, our teachers, and our school proud, With our backs straight and head held up high, let us all say, We are BALARIANs , We are leaders,
Thank you very much, and again, good day to all.
